The book is about a very active research field in software engineering. In modern society, the fact of the world's high reliance on software requires the system's robustness, id est, continual availability and satisfactory service quality. This requirement gives rise to the popularity of the research on the self-adaptive software in open environment. There are some academic conferences dedicated to this field. But there is a lack of monographs about the topic. We believe such need is unmet in marketplace. By publishing the book, it can help bridge the gap and bring benefits to readers thereof.Key Features:The topic is well-motivated, interesting and actively studied worldwideThe research represents as the state-of-the-art in the fieldThe technical part of the book is rigidly evaluatedThe theoretical part of the book is sound and provedThe organization and presentation of the book will be double-checked by professional scholars--Provided by publisher.

Learn the importance of architectural and design patterns in producing and sustaining next-generation IT and business-critical applications with this guide. About This Book Use patterns to tackle communication, integration, application structure, and more Implement modern design patterns such as microservices to build resilient and highly available applications Choose between the MVP, MVC, and MVVM patterns depending on the application being built Who This Book Is For This book will empower and enrich IT architects (such as enterprise architects, software product architects, and solution and system architects), technical consultants, evangelists, and experts. What You Will Learn Understand how several architectural and design patterns work to systematically develop multitier web, mobile, embedded, and cloud applications Learn object-oriented and component-based software engineering principles and patterns Explore the frameworks corresponding to various architectural patterns Implement domain-driven, test-driven, and behavior-driven methodologies Deploy key platforms and tools effectively to enable EA design and solutioning Implement various patterns designed for the cloud paradigm In Detail Enterprise Architecture (EA) is typically an aggregate of the business, application, data, and infrastructure architectures of any forward-looking enterprise. Due to constant changes and rising complexities in the business and technology landscapes, producing sophisticated architectures is on the rise. Architectural patterns are gaining a lot of attention these days. The book is divided in three modules. You'll learn about the patterns associated with object-oriented, component-based, client-server, and cloud architectures. The second module covers Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) patterns and how they are architected using various tools and patterns. You will come across patterns for Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Event-Driven Architecture (EDA), Resource-Oriented Architecture (ROA), big data analytics architecture, and Microservices Architecture (MSA). The final module talks about advanced topics such as Docker containers, high performance, and reliable application architectures. The key takeaways include understanding what architectures are, why they're used, and how and where architecture, design, and integration patterns are being leveraged to build better and bigger systems. Style and Approach This book adopts a hands-on approach with re...

Birthing the Computer: From Drums to Cores examines the evolution of computer systems architecture based on two evolutionary developments: memory technology - magnetic drums to magnetic cores - and CPU technology - transistors. This evolution, exemplified by a number of academic and commercial computing machines, yielded significant performance improvements and more storage leading to more effective utilization. These features would drive the development of programming languages and system software that would enhance the usability of the machines to solve more complex problems in both business, government, and scientific domains. The machines described in this volume represent the leading edge of the transition to second generation computer systems. They introduce a number of key technology concepts in computer architecture and system software that are found in every computer system today, albeit in a more modern form.

Build, combine, and launch infrastructure in a fast, secure, and effective manner About This Book An up-to-date and comprehensive resource on Terraform that lets you quickly and efficiently launch your infrastructure Learn how to implement your infrastructure as code and make secure, effective changes to your infrastructure Learn to build multi-cloud fault-tolerant systems and simplify the management and orchestration of even the largest scale and most complex cloud infrastructures Who This Book Is For This book is for developers and operators who already have some exposure to working with infrastructure but want to improve their workflow and introduce infrastructure as a code practice. Knowledge of essential Amazon Web Services components (EC2, VPC, IAM) would help contextualize the examples provided. Basic understanding of Jenkins and Shell scripts will be helpful for the chapters on the production usage of Terraform. What You Will Learn Understand what Infrastructure as Code (IaC) means and why it matters Install, configure, and deploy Terraform Take full control of your infrastructure in the form of code Manage complete complete infrastructure, starting with a single server and scaling beyond any limits Discover a great set of production-ready practices to manage infrastructure Set up CI/CD pipelines to test and deliver Terraform stacks Construct templates to simplify more complex provisioning tasks In Detail Terraform is a tool used to efficiently build, configure, and improve production infrastructure. It can manage existing infrastructure as well as create custom in-house solutions. This book shows you when and how to implement infrastructure as a code practices with Terraform. It covers everything necessary to set up complete management of infrastructure with Terraform, starting with the basics of using providers and resources. This book is a comprehensive guide that begins with very small infrastructure templates and takes you all the way to managing complex systems, all using concrete examples that evolve over the course of the book. It finishes with the complete workflow of managing a production infrastructure as code - this is achieved with the help of version control and continuous integration. At the end of this book, you will be familiar with advanced techniques such as multi-provider support and multiple remote modules. Style and approach This book focuses on providing the practical skills required to make full use of Terrafo...
